Can you hold my baby?

In the last few years, humour has been one of my greatest assets, coping strategies, and best ways to approach a dark and sometimes scary world! So with that in mind, this is a very paraphrased convo that Chantelle and I had on that fateful September morning!

Chantelle: Can you hold my baby?

Heidi: Sure, I'd love to!

Chantelle: I mean like really hold my baby?

Heidi: OK, I think I can do that, how long were you thinking?

Chantelle: Around 9 months or so?

Heidi: Yes, absolutely! I'm in!

If any of you have any memories or relationship with me you will have probably heard me make the comment, That I would totally have other people‘s babies for them!  It seems wildly hilarious, that I will actually have this incredible opportunity!  Surrogacy has always been on my mind and been intriguing to me!  Thanks Addison Forbes Montgomery and Private Practice! Also because of my love for pregnancy, growing and carrying a baby and my experience of being a mom to my amazing kiddos, why not do it for someone who isn’t able to!?!  It seems like a perfectly natural thing to offer someone or want to do for them!  I have jokingly (but not really) offered to others I love in a “ if you ever needed a surrogate, I would totally do it for you!” kind of way!  Now this will be a reality!

I can't think of a more deserving couple than Chantelle and Craig! I deeply admire Chantelle's vulnerability to share so openly, her darkest and deepest pain. She chose to show up and be seen in her own story, and that is really the only way to build connection and deeper community! It was easy for me to open up to her about my own journey and struggles and immediately brought us togetether. Just like that the plan was unfolding before our eyes! I know this is not the common path, or something you'd choose to do if you wanted simple, easy and mess free. But that is not really my style! In my life I have chosen a path less travelled and one that I will need to rely on my Saviour for, as we both know this will be a path filled with ups and downs, a lot of emotion and uncertainty! We are walking into the unknown, and really that is life! So this year we will LIVE IT knitted together closely, with overwhelming love and support from all the wonderful people that walk beside us!
